Monday, January 25, 2021. Her beloved husband, Dominic, was by her side and
she was surrounded by her children and the love of her grandchildren. Gratefully,
she passed quickly and peacefully. She is survived by her lifelong love, Dominic
Tarantino, three loving children Robert (Wendy), Stephen (Cordes) and Leanne
(John), and 6 adoring grandchildren; Anna Mia, Matthew, Thomas, Jack, Ashley
and Lulu. She was blessed with a long, healthy, happy life.
A San Francisco native and devout Catholic, Leona attended Sacred Heart
Elementary School, Presentation High School and Lone Mountain College (USF)
where she earned a bachelors degree in Art. At a Halloween party in high
school, she met Dom, the love of her life. They married immediately after
graduating from college and celebrated 66 years of a beautiful marriage; 72
years of enduring love. The couple lived in Greenwich Connecticut with their
young family and extended their circle of friends. They lived a charmed life, filled
with traveling the globe for Dom’s work at PWC international accounting firm,
meeting business leaders, celebrities at the Oscars, and spiritual teachers such
as the Pope and the Dali Lama; she endeared them all with her kind demeanor.
Leona spent much of her life volunteering wherever her talents were
needed. She dedicated her life as a loving caregiver and brought beauty into the
world through her artwork. Her attention to detail extended to her interest in
others as she cared for everything and everyone with deep love. Her annual
hand drawn Christmas cards were a cherished gift to all who received them. A
devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Leona was happiest when her family was
gathered all together and made a celebration out of any event with impeccable
style. Her role as Nonni was the most rewarding as she always had cookies on
hand for the grandchildren and was present at every play, game, competition and
presentation. Her sweet smile, gracious manner and generous heart will be
remembered by all who knew her.
A private mass for the immediate family is scheduled for Thursday,
February 4th at 11:00 am PT at St. Ignatius Church. You can join the live stream
of the mass by going to this link [https://www.youtube.com/c/StIgnatiusParishSF],

made in Leona’s name to two of her favorite charities. Little Sisters of the Poor,

San Francisco CA 94118
and/or

hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
