Manuel Antonio Mendoza

Passed away peacefully on September 28, 2013, at his home. He was born August 29, 1947, in Boston, MA, to Dr. Luis A. and Gaetana Mendoza. He grew up in Brookline, MA. He attended high school at the New York Military Academy and graduated from Boston University.

Manuel (Manny) is survived by his wife Alma; daughter Jessica; and sons David, William and Manuel, Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Marie Towne of Springfield, MA, and his brother, Dr. Luis A. Mendoza, Jr. and wife, Susann, of Pleasant Valley, NY, along with two aunts, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Kansas, Florida, California, Paris, London, Germany, and Peru.

Manny was a career financial services representative with New York Life Insurance. He completed over twenty years as a distinguished representative of the company.

Manny was a kind and caring man devoted to his family. He will be forever remembered for his unending help for others less fortunate. He will be missed by a large group of family and friends. Manny was able to bring about an incredible change for the better in many people's lives. He was loved and will be missed by all he touched.

Manuel loved his ranch and his ridgeback dogs that he raised and bred. He enjoyed horseback riding, reading, and entertaining and had a love for contemporary art. Manny was devoted to his high school and was in constant communication with his classmates and many other graduates of the New York Military Academy. He was very active in alumnae relations and fund-raising throughout the years.

A visitation will be held from 2pm to 8pm on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Halsted N.Gray-Carew & English Funeral Home, 1123 Sutter Street, San Francisco. Interment is private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New York Military Academy, 78 Academy Avenue, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY 12520, in Manny's name.
