Nancy Anne Fortner Sutton, 72, of San Francisco, California, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born on April 29, 1953, in Durant, Oklahoma, where she spent her early years. Around 1960, she and her family moved to Cleburne, Texas, where she grew up and attended the public schools, including Cleburne High School.
Nancy brought light and laughter wherever she went. She never met a stranger and had a true gift for conversation, filling every room with warmth and connection. Her vibrant spirit and loving nature touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She spent many years in San Antonio, Texas, raising her two sons before moving to Arkansas and eventually settling in San Francisco in the early 1990s. Nancy worked as an accountant throughout her career. She was a voracious reader with a natural curiosity about virtually any topic. She was passionate about her beliefs, her family and her many friends from across the country.
In 2021, after many years together, Nancy married the love of her life, Michael Nualla, who survives her. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, James Waldrop (Laurie) of Oakland, CA and Paul Stanley of Belleview, FL, and a cherished grandmother to Kara Waldrop (15), Parker Waldrop (13), Dalton Stanley (26), Paul Southards III (21), Alex Stanley (11), and Elizabeth Anne Stanley (2) and three great-grandchildren: Anna Stanley (3), Amelia Stanley (2), and Dallas Stanley (1).
Nancy is also survived by her brothers, Tom Fortner (Laurilyn) of Fairhope, AL and Scott Fortner (Lisa) of Alachua, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. (Pete) Fortner III and Anne Fortner.
