Just heard of Ray's passing. So very, very sorry to hear the news.

Ray rescued me from the religious zealots in Westmont College when I was a freshman and he was a junior.  After one term he left for l’Abri Institute in Switzerland and I subsequently left Westmont.  I saw Ray occasionally several years later when we were both living in the SF Bay Area, then lost contact when my family moved to Oregon.  Ray was a bright, gentle, tortured soul who made life better for everyone who came in contact with him.  Bless you, Ray.  Wherever you have landed is a better place for your being there.

He and I lived fairly close in the middle- and high- school years ("Junior High" it was called then) and we'd walk to and from school together most days. (Walk??)  He and my friend, Craig Heyne ("Rusty") , were kind of a trio of buds. Rusty and I went to the same church, HPPC; but, that's a whole different, great, fun, and adventuresome story.  Ray was a better piano player than me  then (those Baptist hymns - haha).  Sometimes we'd play duets for a few minutes after school at his place.  "Exodus" was premiered in 1960 and the main song was fun to play together - espec because I played the Primo part (melody and easier) and Ray played Secondo (accomp-where the work got done).  After high school, he left the area to go to college and I went to PCC as did Rusty...
Seems like lifetimes ago when people played the piano after school instead of hitting X-Box ; and walking to school was considered normal...

Ray was a fellow classmate at Franklin High School in Los Angeles 1964.  Ray was the guy with the big smile, shy but very friendly. Smartest boy in the class. He was our senior class president.   We kept in touch throughout the years - reunions, Facebook.  Such a gentle man.  He will be missed by those classmates who knew him. RIP Ray.
