Oh no! So so sorry to hear that. Bob and  I worked together. He also worked with my husband Oleg. We were practically neighbors. He used to walk around the neighborhood and dropped by home a couple of times. He talked about giving furniture to my daughter that he was not using and gave advice about the schools and buses. We always planned a barbecue...then COVID happened. He loved his sons and always spoke of them with love. He was dignified, had a great sense of humor and I considered him a friend. He knew a lot about the area and kept giving me advice. I feel so bad that I did not know about this till now....
I will always remember the time we both took an Oracle class in San Francisco and we walked to the Ferry building and had an amazing lunch.
He was always there to grab coffee, hang around and be a friend.
You will be missed my friend. I kept hoping you would drop by from your walk

Bob was a good friend past 12 years. He always shared stories about his sons, knew lots of history about San Francisco, and great sense of humor. His funniest stories included Product meeting with Tom Siebel where peer would be yelled at pointing out Siebel's name was on building. He worked in same building as Larry Ellison and admitted to looking up at ceiling in elevator if crossed paths as job security to remain anonymous.  I know many people at Oracle saddened by news. 

My condolences to his family who was most important part of his life. He talked about retiring but wanted to remain near his sons. We're all at a loss and grateful for opportunity to work with Bob who became friend to so many of us.   

I am shocked to hear of Bob's passing. We worked together for many many years. He was very proud of his boys and shared stories with me. The younger son would stop by the cafeteria at our workplace for his favorite food. I will miss Bob's cheerful attitude and puns (there were really good).  He left us too soon and will be sorely missed.

Oh my God, I just found out.  Lifelong friend from nine years old.  I just had hundreds of slides digitized, several with ten-year-old Bob terrorizing my dogs.   I had been with him in September, was offline in Utah for November and had no clue.   This is painful on so many levels.

Bob and I had many great conversations by phone and by email.  Today,  I was looking back through old emails when one of our message threads popped up.  Bob made "final plans" years ago because he wanted to spare the boys the difficulty of having to make decisions at a difficult time.  That was when he arranged for his final resting place at the San Francisco Columbarium--"inside, not outside"--and he shared this image: 

Bob and I went to St Gabriels' together and then after I attended  Mercy and he at SI saw him and again re-connected at SFSU.  He was a very nice guy, liked to be involved and was very kind and thoughtful.  He loved cars,  SF and history of the city, but more then anything he loved his 2 boys.   He spoke often about them and how proud he was of them and that he wanted them to  enjoy life and have a full and wonderful life.  
I know that the boys'  mom (Vicky), whom I also knew from Mercy passed on as well years back.  For the boys - Stay strong and think of all the good memories that you have with your parents and esp. at this time with your dad and know you meant everything to him.    
Bob and I shared a b-day  date in Sept.  we would always meet for a coffee and chat around our bdays...and then at the holidays in the past few years we would meet at Starbucks and have some much too sugary drink with the works - this year we did not due to Covid - not the bday or holiday coffee.  Over these coffees which first started when we were working on the St. Gabs reunion with others - we would chat about SF, his boys, jobs the city and I got to know Bob even better.    He then went from his role at Oracle to a contract job at HP.  We talked often at that time since I had worked at HP for a number of years.  He was a good guy and would help anyone if needed.  He loved the city and history of SF and now will lay to rest as the proud SF native that he was.    RIP Bob - you are in the city just as you always wanted a true native and historian thru and thru.  xoxooxo

bob was the younger brother of my middle school and high school friend mike carini. i was shocked to hear of bob's passing as we had recently exchanged messages on facebook about san francisco. my sincere condolences to all of bob's family for your loss.

I remember the good times we shared at St. Gabriel' school - and re-connecting with him at our 40th grammar school reunion.  Never thought I wouldn't see him at another...  Rest in peace friend - you will be missed!

I am so sorry to hear about Bob.  I went to St Gabriel’s with him and although we did not keep in too much touch, we we able to all get together a few years back for our 40th anniversary.  I pray for Robs family and that God holds Rob and his family in his heart during this difficult time.

My condolences to Bob’s loved ones. Bob and I went to school together. He was a good friend of mine in our younger days. We had some fun. Bob will be missed by many from St. Gabe’s!

Bob was one of my close friends for over forty years.  We shared a lot of interests (computers, poker, bikes, chess) and we had fun together over the years.  He will be missed by many, and I will especially miss our talks, poker games, bike rides, and even his pun filled jokes.  This picture is from my graduation in 1982, with Bob posing near his favorite car, a Rolls Royce.

Very sorry to read about Bob's passing on the St. Gabriel School website.  He and I had many great conversations about our shared interest in SF history, going to St. Ignatius, and growing up in the Parkside District.  

So sorry to hear this.  We went grade school together.  May he rest in peace up in heaven.

Bob, your ability to bridge Music, Focus, Creativity, Humor, Insight, ‘n Dedication throughout your time here will remembered and viewed as memorable lessons for us all, young and old.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. 😢 He was a wonderful friend for over 50 years. I will always have many enjoyable memories especially from our youth and teenage years. My sincere condolences to his sons and brother. May his soul rest in peace with our Lord and all his friends and family who have left this world before him.

Bob was a wonderful neighbor to Roberto and me.  He always had a cheerful smile and a caring manner.  We enjoyed chatting whenever we saw one another.  We appreciated his watching out for package deliveries when we were out of town.

We shared in a delight of enjoying holiday decorations.  And he was very helpful to us -- one day he surprised us by replacing our front door light with one of those impossible-to-find special bulbs because he had just replaced his own.

We shall miss Bob's friendly smile and hope the family's fond memories provide comfort during this difficult time.
