Robert Eugene Schmidt died peacefully on November 24 at a senior care facility in Union City, CA. He was born in Flushing, New York on April 9, 1930, the son of Emil Henry Schmidt and Mary Margaret Ford. Bob graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1954 from New York’s Manhattan College, where he majored in Marketing and Business Administration. Later he took courses at the Dale Carnegie Institute for Effective Speaking. Bob served as a Corporal in the 107th Infantry of the National Guard. He worked for General Foods, focusing on Government sales and, subsequently, with the Birds Eye division, where he was responsible for marketing and sales. Later he was a salesman for the Pharmaceutical division of Borden and finally spent 40 years as a sales manager with Louis Baldinger & Sons in New York, responsible for selling custom decorative lamps and light fixtures. Bob never married. He was an avid bicyclist and kept fit until age caught up with him. He enjoyed collecting art, mostly of 19th century portraits. Bob spent most of his life in Manhattan's Midtown East, but moved to San Francisco to live with his sister after Bob’s brother-in-law, Desmond Reeves, died. Bob is survived by his loving sister, Rita M. Reeves.
