Sharon June Wise Parkinson passed away in the early hours of March 31, 2023, in San Francisco. She was born in San Francisco, California on July 29, 1943 to the late Charles Wise and June Meyers, both of California.
Sharon was raised in the Excelsior District of San Francisco and spent summers on the Russian River where her family had a summer cabin. There, she enjoyed swimming and roller skating, and made lifelong friendships that spanned many decades. She had a close bond with her older brother, Charles, and they were always together during the summer months.
Sharon was very creative and experimented with multiple crafts over the years, including sewing and painting, and other forms of art. She was a brilliant seamstress and had amazing embroidery skills, both of which she practiced throughout her life, and she took pride in the beautiful pieces she created. She spent many years making beaded jewelry and loved to share her pieces with friends and loved ones. Sharon was an amazing gardener and cook, and mastered the art of baking cheesecake, which became a holiday staple year after year. Whatever she was working on, she was passionate and strived to be the best. Sharon loved music and enjoyed a variety of artists, from country music to classics, and especially rock and roll. She was also an animal lover and her dogs and cats brought her incredible joy throughout her life.
Although she spent her early years in the bay area and across California in Carmel, Santa Barbara, and Sonora, Dunsmuir was where she called home and the place she loved most. Dunsmuir is where her heart lived. She cherished time with her family and had a special love for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Garrett Martinez of Dunsmuir, California, and Barret Martinez of San Francisco, California; grandchildren, Miles Martinez, Cole Martinez, and Luke Martinez, all of Dunsmuir, California; and one great-grandchild, Melody Martinez.
