The week that  Steve Jobs died 2011 ; Penny ( who was at a medical conference in San Jose )  & I met  up with Stan, Rick, Vince in the vineyard near Healdsberg.  Harvesting grapes, Stan running down wild Turkeys with a pistol 🤪. The CRUSH, a peasant lunch on the hillside, barrel sampling ALMOST ready Argent 🙏🏻

Dearest Dorothy and Alexi:
We are overwhelmed by grief in the loss of our friend Stan. My wife Penny and I treasure the time we had with him.
I recruited Stan in 1994 ish to spearhead the development of a detector that Sandia National Labs had struggled with. My company Midwest Research Technologies was successful with Stan’s leadership. 
We bonded in our mutual passions of sailing and wines. We stayed in the “ China man’s room” , when Alexi was age two ( as best as my memory recalls ). Stan stayed with us in our Chicago area home, as he enjoyed our hospitality ; remarking, “ I don’t remember this kind of warmth and joy since my mother use to host . WOW !
Our last time together was the week of Steve Jobs death. My Penny was working as a Clinical Nurse Consultant at an exhibition in San Jose. We hooked up with Stan , Rick, Victor and the two Greek friends at their vineyard UP the road from Healdsburg, CA. . Picking grapes, doing a crush and enjoying a peasant lunch of last nights Salmon sour dough bread, barrel sampling earlier Argent Petite Syrah.
First race with Stan aboard “ Great Fun “…..I’ll remember him in that way. God how we will miss him.

My friend of almost 40 years we spoke every week and I could not wonder why I have not reached him recently I want to find out he passed a few weeks back I missed the service I am past brokenhearted my heart is in so much pain I have no family so my family are my friends and he was one of my friends who is also on my emergency contact list in case anything ever happened to me once again I'm beyond heart break when I found out what happened I missed the service is already too late I've cried like a baby for two days RIP my friend Michael Dias 

I am so sorry for your loss, Dorothy. And so touched that you and your brother, Stanley, stayed so close through all the years. I hope those memories will always be a comfort to you.

Stanley Steve Glaros. I’ve lost a lifelong friend starting in first grade into his 80th year. He loved his family. A brilliant scientist, a wine maker, a sailing madman, a cook, race cars, Greek heritage, Ikaria, his home away from home where he rebuilt his ancestor’s broken down stone cottage. I loved our time together, and loved him!

Stanley was a man of many facets. He was a Modern Man and yet his soul was deeply steeped in family and Greek traditions. Sometimes he lived life on the edge but always lived life on his terms.  When growing up he was quite mischievous but forever loyal to his family.   While living at home, I idolized my big brother but I am grateful our relationship changed and deepened as we aged.  I'll dearly miss our daily talks.  I hear his voice in my head and feel his love in my heart. Safe journey Brother Dear.  May your memory be eternal.  All my love, Dorothy

The marina community at Pier 39 will miss Stanley, he was  so much a fixture of this place and his affable ,upbeat manner  and slightly down a heel appearance were always at odds with what a brilliant man he was.
We have lost a true gem .

Stan was truly one of the nicest, kindest people I have ever known.  I'm so grateful to have had him in my life and will miss him terribly.
