A beloved wife, sister, daughter and friend. She embodied a profound and enduring sense of loyalty and through the magic that was "Susan", effortlessly created and nurtured friendships that spanned decades. Her unique and engaging communication style could instantly dissolve barriers and opened
hearts. Susan met her husband, Judge Auffinger, in 1995 and the two were married on May 22, 1999.
They shared life as they hiked their way throughout the Bay Area. Together they perfected the art of "the weekend retreat", exploring the beauty and splendor that only the Northern California Coast has to offer. Susan truly loved to travel; spending time in Hawaii, Alaska, Panama and Argentina. She was particularly drawn to Puerto Vallarta as a comfortable retreat where she was always eager to revel and bask in the warmth of the sun. Susan was born in Bakersfield, California and grew up in Riverside. She moved to San Francisco in 1975 and graduated from San Francisco State University. She started her career in the restaurant industry, working at some of San Francisco's most popular eateries. As the next step in her journey, she moved into food service sales at S.E. Rykoff, and for the past 16 years, Susan continued her career in food service sales at BiRite Foodservice Distributers. It is here that she demonstrated her reputation as a committed professional and trusted-resource for her clients. Susan took great joy in utilizing her keen intellect and innate talent for problem solving, offering creative and effective solutions to her many loyal clients over her long career. Susan is the daughter of Tom and Joanne Hershey of Redlands, Calif.; sister of Jennifer Anthony of Missoula, Montana, and Fred Hershey of Riverside; and aunt to Arwyn Anthony and Michelle Hershey. She was quite simply the bravest person in all of our lives…the world is a changed place with the loss of Susan and we will all miss her greatly. A celebration of her life will be held in San Francisco later this summer.
