While I never met TF, I've had the pleasure of spending time with his son, Brandon, who is a friend & classmate of my son. I see someone else posted that TF had a wonderful sense of humor; that must be where Brandon got it! My sympathies to TF's family.

It was my great good fortune to be a colleague of T.F.'s for many years, working with him in Washington, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.  T.F. was one of those fellows who, once you met him, you _never_ forgot him.  A wonderful sense of humor, always with a smile on his face, always with something good to say, always willing to help out.  In fact he was the embodiment of the adage, “If you don't have something nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all.”
