I wish to add additional thoughts to my earlier memory posting of Wai Hing.  She and my mom, Lily Tom Wong, were the best of friends through the years.  (A photo of them together was posted earlier today.)  It was a blessing to see them together, and to hear from Mom about the times they spent together.  I believe at least once they were together back in China; I have yet to go there, but would love to do that once it's safer to do so.  I am thankful Wai Hing and my mom were friends for so long.  It wasn't until after 2015 that Mom began to have difficulties handling things on her own, so the frequency of visits to San Francisco dropped.  But, memories of them both will never be forgotten.

The wife of my cousin was such a kind, gentle lady, who always had a beautiful smile for everyone.   I remember that one summer I spent time with her and her husband, Laisut, while I was working in San Francisco on a short-term job.  Although I unfortunately was not able to speak Chinese, we were able to communicate somehow, and they were so generous in allowing me to stay with them.   I certainly looked forward to the dinner meals which were lovingly prepared and so delicious.   Through the years visits to see them became less frequent as my (deceased) husband, Cliff,  and I moved away from California, lived a couple years in Seoul, South Korea, and  then settled in Colorado.  But,  memories of visits with them and  family & friends are filled with laughter and delicious meals, which  of course they insisted on providing.  Her lovely smile and generous, giving nature will be missed, but never forgotten. 

My cousin's wife was a gentle soul.  She was soft-spoken and generous. A visit to her home guaranteed you would be taking food home.  She always greeted us with a hug and a smile. The kind of smile that made you feel loved. She was a great friend to our Mom, Lily Wong.  We all journeyed together on a month long, cross country exploration from San Francisco to New York and back by motorhome in 1976. She was up for an adventure and a joy to have along. We will hold these memories close to our hearts forever.
