I met Abel through my brother, Jose.  They worked at Macy’s together.   He was always so welcoming and happy from day one. I could always count on him to cheer me up and make me laugh.  I went to my first foo fighters concert with him as well. I have only good memories of him and the times we spent together.  I’ll miss our text conversations and our in person conversations, but I feel so lucky that I was able to build a friendship with him. 

Although there are many, too numerous to list them all, one of the most fondest and memorable moments I have of Abel was actually the day I baptized him. That day, when I became “Nina”, I was so honored. What a privilege it was being Abel’s “Nina”.  Each time Abel would address me by my new title, “Nina”, it tugged at my heart.  He always said it with such warmth. His special smile and chuckle that followed our conversations will surely be missed.
Abel had an awesome personality. He was always so happy go lucky, so caring, generous, and oh so funny. I’m going to miss the funny ways he’d imitate people.  He was really good at it.  He’d always throw in an imitation of someone while we’d be having a conversation.  His more popular ones were when he’d say my sister’s name, “Sahndee” or “Sandrita”, and it was always a gas when Abel would imitate Mrs. Swan from SNL. Oh man! We sure did share some good laughs, and no doubt he’d always put a smile on my face.  But of course Abel also had a serious side to him. He cherished and so dearly loved his parents, my sister Sandra and my Compi Max, his sisters Nikki and Veronica little brother Maxi. Then when Maxi started his family, oh man! It was over. Lil Spencie and Morrissey stole his heart. Abel was so devoted to his parents, siblings and niece and nephew.  That was a beautiful quality Abel had, putting everyone else first before him.  My Sister and my Compi did an exceptional job raising Abel, (and  Nikki, Veronica and Maxi).I’ll always remember his sweet demeanor when he’d interact with kids. You could see the sparkle the kids would put in his eyes, and I know his heart would swell up as big as his chest would allow. 
Abel, I will miss you terribly! Thank you for the laughs&chuckles. It was an honor and a privilege being your “Nina”. You will forever live in my heart! Until we meet again. I love you, Abel!

My favorite memory of Abel was when we were working at Macy’s. I was sort of bummed that I was going to have to work on my birthday & Valentine’s Day. On Valentine’s Day, Abel comes in with chocolate covered strawberries & an assortment of other goodies he had made himself. I was so blown away by his genuine kindness all I could do was cry, hug him & thank him. This just was Abel’s personality, he was full of compassion, kindness & empathy.  Abel was always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. We would frequently talk about our families, our health or what we planned on cooking for dinner.  He gave me some great cooking tips. For Abel being 6 months younger than my own son, he was wise beyond his years. He holds a special place in everyone’s heart for mostly the same reason, friendship. He was an example of true friendship to all of us. All of us have memories of laughing, talks, jokes, advice or just being around Abel, they’re all special, memorable or just brings a smile to our face. My last memory of Abel was dancing with him at my wedding. It brings a smile to my face & tears to my eyes, because we laughed & had great time. He will be greatly missed. 

Since finding out that he passed away I haven't been able to stop thinking about Abel and what he meant to me. I met him when I started working at Macy's. Just a co-worker you would think. But as time passed, we spent hours together working and talking. Getting to know each other. I always knew he cared about what I was saying because he always followed up on our talks. He offered advice, warmth, and support in a friendship that I could never repay. He loved telling me about his family and his every day life with them. I could tell he loved them deeply and was devoted to always being there for them. That's how we became close friends. As I've gotten older, I've realized that people live their own lives and don't always have the space in their hearts for others but Abel always did. Abel always cared. Meeting Abel so early in my life really skewed my perception about how kind people are supposed to be because I have yet to meet anyone as special as him. Everybody wanted his company. Everybody wanted to talk to him. His parents can be proud of raising such a wonderful human being who so clearly meant so much to many different people. The world feels so different now without Abel. We're all going through our daily routines but things just feel different now. I'll never forget him and I'm thankful that I had the honor of meeting him. Abel, buddy, we love you and we'll miss you every day. Stay strong everybody, we were all lucky enough to know him, not everybody had that privilege. Thank you for bringing so much to this world, Abel. We'll never meet someone as wonderful as you again.  Rest in peace.

My first memory was walking into your house and Abel was cooking with that smile and laugh and I asked you like to cook because it smells delicious and he said you want to try and I said okay, well after that I told him U need to be a chef because your food is great,and he smiled and did that little laugh.  Everytime I saw Able at a get together he always gave the best hug and that smile and little laugh,  the last time I saw him was the 4th of July parade, he was sitting and he waved with that Smile and I went over and gave him a hug and said hi to the family . Abel was always happy go lucky, I will miss your beautiful Smile and that little laugh you would do, But I will never forget it and I thank you for always making me laugh, I will carry it with me. U were a good young Man, polite caring and giving and a very good person I admired the way you took care of your family your helped your mom you were a natural you didn't need to be told you just helped and cared and that was a gift along with that handsome face and beautiful smile.

Aside from all the times I worked with Abel, I will always cherish how he took me under his wing and showed me how to perform my seasonal position.  He taught me what I needed to know and I will be forever grateful to the wonderful angel Abel was.

Abel you will always have a special spot in my heart ! Since day one I started working with you . You showed me kindness and just comfort. I’ll always remember our memories. All the good times we had  especially  our laughs and stories  will remain with me for ever !

Abel and my grandson share the same birthday, and my grandson is  now 4 and before he was born Abel  and I would make bets on what day he would be born. My birthday is on the seventh he was due on the ninth and my grandson was born on the 10th. Abel was so happy to share a birthday with my grandson, and every one of his birthdays he always made a happy birthday wish Mason.  He was always so easy to talk to, and he made a big impact in my life. God has a angel now, you will be missed R.I.P
