Beatrice Flores passed away peacefully on the morning of February 14, 2017. Beatrice (Bea) was born on August 16, 1927 in Austin, Texas to Vidal Ramirez and Mecedes Saucedo Ramirez and was the youngest of six children.
Bea joined her husband, Estanislao Y. Flores (E.R.) who pre-deceased her in Oct 2013. They met when she was in her early teens and married very young. Bea lived a full, beautiful and rewarding life with her loving husband E.R.. Together they raised a total of eight children, seven daughters and one son, which were all born in Austin, Texas.
The family made the decision to move to California in 1964, and made their home in Alhambra. Bea was an amazing person, she was very independent, kind, thoughtful, generous and considerate. She was also very courageous and strong willed. Not long after moving to California, Bea, being self-taught and determined to make a better life for herself and her family and with the demands of nurturing her family, she somehow remained extremely active with other activities. She pursued her interest in purchasing antiques which soon developed into a full time hobby of buying and selling antiques and started selling at the Pasadena City College Flea market and yard sales from home for extra spending money. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and was very Lucky on several occasions. She would also go out of her way to reach out to those who were in need, and would assist seniors in the neighborhood by helping them with chores and daily care. She spent her life caring for others. Above all, she loved all her children with pride and joy. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her kids even if it meant sacrificing something important for herself. She was always available for them when they needed help and always the protector.
She was absolutely one of a kind and we will miss her greatly. She is survived by her beloved Sister, Delia Flores who resides in Santa Maria, CA and beloved Children: Alice Marie Flores, Yolanda Flynt, Bertha Flores, Herlinda Salter, Mercedes (who died of leukemia at the age of 10), Daniel Flores, Patricia Garcia, and Rose Marie Luthi; and Grandchildren: Michael Williams, Danielle Flores, Elizabeth Flores, Alexandra and Sophia Garcia, Joshua and Jacob Luthi, Robert and David Salter and Erica and Alyssa Flores.
