Dorothy Agnes Tsoi-A-Sue, affectionately known as Dot, 94, of San Gabriel, California, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026. She was born on February 14, 1932, to Edward and Iris Mantong in Aruba. Dorothy and her siblings Calvin (deceased), Lloyd and Grace were raised in Trinidad.
Before her marriage to Pat, Dorothy's early career included several years as Corporate Secretary at L.J. Williams. Later, when the family migrated to the US, she reentered the formal workplace as Collections Officer at Bank of America. While she excelled in her formal careers, she will perhaps be better known as a self-made person raising a family of eight children while pursuing a catering business, running the estate at Tableland in Trinidad and taking a truly hands-on role in construction and renovations.
But perhaps most of all she will be remembered for her deep involvement in community and charity. It is hard to recall all the specific charities and causes to which she donated her time and hard work such as United Way, St Vincent de Paul, construction of Mrs Mannings Nursery School and the playfield at Purbeck Crescent in La Romaine, Trinidad. Her United Way involvement is a good example of her always making the extra effort. In addition to actively supporting the campaigns, she would bake meat pies weekly to raise additional funds for the cause.
All who knew Dot will remember her for her generosity, her resourcefulness, her quick wit and her warm welcome. She loved gardening and would spend hours in the hot sun tending one of the most beautiful gardens on the Boulevard.
Her life's work is defined by her passion for helping others, truly getting to know them, understanding them and their situation and giving her all to help them.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Michael (spouse Maureen), Patrick (spouse Gail), Anne (spouse Greg), Patricia (spouse Don), Margaret (spouse Jim), and Debbie. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and another on the way, grand-doggies and grand-kitties.
Dorothy will forever be in their hearts. She now rests in peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Patrick, and her sons Joseph (survived by Susan) and Philip (survived by Rosana) in Heaven.
