

Estelle Holtz lived a full life till the age of 95. She was born and raised on a farm in Elkader, Iowa. Estelle had seven brothers and three sisters. She had great memories of the farm life and was known to many as a great storyteller. She attended College in Iowa and earned a degree in education. She worked a few years as a teacher in Iowa before moving to Long beach, California to teach and attend UCLA. She met Vernon Holtz at UCLA and they were married on February 6, 1954. They raised 6 children. She taught for the Archdiocese in LA. She always welcomed friends and family into her home.
Estelle was an incredible lady with a sweet demeaner. She had a heart of gold, a wonderful smile, sparkle in her eyes, and rosy cheeks. The endless love, laughter, joy she radiated will live on in her family for generations.
She was very involved in her community and church. In 2005, the State of California Legislature recognized Estelle as Woman of the Year for her outstanding service and dedication to the people of California.
Estelle enjoyed traveling to Europe many times with her husband. Her favorite place was Ireland. Her husband worked a lot in Hawaii which enabled her and the family to go there often.
Estelle/mom would remind us how blessed to have great moms, dads, grandparents, aunts , uncles, and friends that love you so much. That they will always be there for you. Always thank God for all your blessings and always think of how lucky you are. She would always say “no use worrying because you’re probably worrying about the wrong thing”.
Estelle is survived by her 5 children, 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She will be missed by many but her memories will live on. She would say “ It’s All about the People”
