Eunice Delores McQuade

December 4, 1925April 25, 2014

Arrangements under the direction of Pierce Brothers Turner & Stevens Mortuary.

Eunice “Delores” McQuade (nee Stanfill) at 88 joyfully made her way through the Pearly Gates of Heaven on Friday morning April 25, 2014 at 10:24 AM. She was reunited with her pastor husband of 69 years who preceded her 14 months earlier. Delores was born to Vernice Mae and Neil Stanfill and raised in Jackson, TN. “Momma” McQuade, as she was called by so many, loved Jesus and her family with all of her heart. She taught a weekly woman’s Bible study for decades, spoke at women’s retreats, and was a servant to just about everyone she met. Delores taught the children’s church each week at the churches they founded and worked diligently with the children's bus ministry for many years.

Delores is survived by her brother Harold Stanfill and by her 4 children, Kenneth, David and wife Beverly, Paul and wife Nancy, and Gayle and husband Donald Martin. She is also survived by 8 wonderful grandchildren, Shawna married to Neil McGee, Heather Martin-Stitik married to Paul Stitik, Justin McQuade married to Courtney, Shawn McQuade married to Aleida, Jennifer McQuade, Ryan McQuade, Daniel Martin and Jessica Martin. Delores is also survived by 6 (really) great grandchildren, Jessica, Celeste, Jackson, Harper, Kellen, and Elijah.

Delores’ husband Frank was a World War II veteran and a B-24 pilot and they married on the Air Force base in Mt. Home, Idaho in 1944. Together Frank and Delores founded two churches, Franklin Lakes Baptist Church in Franklin Lakes, NJ, and Fellowship Baptist Church in Glen Mills, PA. They spent their early retirement years in Haddonfield, NJ. They then moved to Atherton Baptist Homes in Alhambra, CA and lived there for 11 years. Like her faithful husband Frank, Delores was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ to the end of her journey here on earth.

I remember the first time I met Mama McQuade, I was a senior in high school at Fellowship, and my family was attending our first Sunday service there. She had the most beautiful, genuine and welcoming smile I had ever seen. As I think back, Mama McQuade was always radiant! Seeing her and Pastor holding hands is a memory that I treasure. I wish I could have spent more time with her. She was a beautiful lady inside and out, and a blessing to every life she touched!

Will never forget that trip we took to Florida with Pastor and Delores to study and be certified in evangelism explosion. Also, we remember all the times at their home for meals and functions with the family and just being able to talk to her on a weekly basis was a tremendous blessing. She was particularly gifted with a loving heart. A song we used to sing with the kids has the words "I'm going to heaven, can't wait", going to see Jesus, can't wait . See Pastor and Delores, can't wait.
Looking forward to the memorial service tomorrow can't wait.

What can I say about Mama McQuade that hasn't already been said? Like so many others, she made her home feel like your home. Always welcoming, always encouraging, always smiling in our good times and sharing in our trials, always praying for us, and always ALWAYS the ultimate wife and mother and friend. The best evidence I can think of to prove what a good and Godly woman she was is that her life is clearly reflected in the lives of her kids, who have continued to exhibit the love, caring, and example their Mom displayed all her life. While I will miss her and her amazing husband, I'm comforted by the fact that they are together again, sharing eternity with the Savior they served all those years. What an honor to have known such amazing people and to have been touched by them in ways they probably never knew. God bless the McQuade family!

Delores and I became great friends through marriage and we shared so much in common, both being wives of pastors! She had a radiant smile which drew people to her. I spent many happy times with Delores, sharing stories, doing dishes together, shopping, and praying together. Delores had great insight which I admired and I was blesed to call her my friend. I have such fond memories of mama McQuade what a lovely lady and Christian lady. She was as much an integral part of my young childhood into my teen years and then as a young man like she was a member of my own family & she was/is my eternal family through our Lord and Savior. Mama McQuade made the best hot soup, I can remember helping my dad work on the church buses at night and it always seemed that they needed fixing during the winter well we would be up on the hill at church working in the garage and mama would send pastor up to tell us to take a break and come down to the house for some soup, what a treat. And during the summer when they moved from the house on the hill down to the house on the road with the pool we always had an open invitation to come over and use the pool. Even as a kid and then a young man I was always amazed and in awe of mama's love and devotion to her hubby (my pastor) Frank and her family it was that prevalent and special that could only come from and because of her love for and devotion to her Lord and Savior. Mom mom and Pastor will for ever be in my heart and can't imagine growing up without them in my life, one day we will all be reunited in heavenly splendor.

None compare when we remember "Mama" McQuade. She was wonderfully unique, warm, & funny all the time. Always had a smile for you and gentle touch. So many of my best childhood and adult memories have her in the midst. She was a true example of a Godly woman and We were so blessed to have her share her wisdom with us. She loved our whole family unconditionally, despite our flaws. Grateful for the entire McQuade family and their love for so many. So thankful to know that one day we will all be together again! I am so thankful for the impact on my life from the McQuades. I will never forget their larger than life influence on my life as a young man. They handled themselves with such grace and class. Pastor McQuade was such a constant source of encouragement during my time at FC! We are all better people because of them!

Words cannot express what Momma McQuade has meant to me! She was my spiritual mother, the most Godly woman I have ever known. I learned so much from her! She was always there to guide, encourage and to rebuke (gently) when it was needed. No one can ever take the place she holds in my heart. Momma & Pastor were there for me throughout most of my adult life! I still carry the little penny with a heart cut out that she gave me about 30 years ago. I think of her whenever I look at it. One of the greatest joys was when I took Emery over to see them in New Jersey, when Momma wasn't doing so well. Pastor gave us his blessing and Momma gave us a big smile and hug! I'm so glad that Momma & Pastor are now reunited. I love them dearly, always & forever!

I've tried to think of how to put in to words how much this sweet, precious Saint meant to me. It would take pages to try and describe her. All I can say is she changed me forever. Only now, being with the Lord, does she know the impact she and Pastor McQuade had in so many lives. When I think of all the memories, I try to decide what stands out the most. Is it her warm spirit, her sweetness, her precious sense of humor, the guidance or that beautiful, radiant smile?! I loved her! I loved her so much! I am thinking of all the family she loved so very much.

With Love and Prayers,
