Jeanette Greve Gosma was our mother. On February 13, 2014 she joined her husband, Lou, and her daughter, Lousje, in the arms of the Lord. Mom passed away peacefully at her home in Pasadena, California with her family at her side. She was born in Bandung, Indonesia on May 2, 1919. It was there she met the love of her life, a Royal Dutch Air Force pilot named Lou. They were married on January 4, 1940. Both spent time interned in Japanese POW camp during WW II. Their one year old daughter passed away at the camp. After the war ended, Lou and Jeanette returned to The Netherlands. In 1960 the family, which now included Aart and Mieke, immigrated to the United States settling in Pasadena where they resided for more than 50 years.
Mom worked for many years at The North Star Bakery. She was hard-working and dedicated, considering her customers to be a second family. Mom loved her garden in the back yard. Roses were her favorite. She also always made sure the neighborhood birds and squirrels had a full stomach. Our mother had an unwavering faith in God. She was a long time member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena. She was an active member of the Altar Guild. All of her flower arrangements reflected the beauty of her faith.
Jeanette is survived by her children and their spouses: Aart and Susan Gosma, Mieke and Don McQueen, one grandson Michael Gosma, one granddaughter Gigi McQueen and four great grandchildren. Jeanette was predeceased by her husband Lou, daughter Lousje, three sisters and one brother. Our mother will be cremated. There will be a memorial service on May 2nd, her 95th birthday at All Saints Church in Pasadena. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
