

She was born on April 18, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan, to William Henry Wrighton 1896-1975) and Margaret Hannah John (1889-1980).
She traveled to Los Angeles in 1924, by car with her parents and younger brother. She attended Los Angeles High School (later becoming Susan Miller Dorsey High School), and graduated in 1939.
She served in the United States Marine Corps from March 1942 to December 1945, and was stationed at Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, before leaving the Marine Corps with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
She moved to San Gabriel in 1945, and met her future husband, James Frederick McIntosh, Sr. (1924-1994), a motorcycle officer of the San Gabriel Police Department. They were married on May 4, 1952, and enjoyed 42 years before his death on May 18, 1994 following a 40-year career with the San Gabriel Police Department. During that time, she and her husband raised three children while she was working full-time in the insurance field.
She was active in the PTA, Cub Scouts of America, and extensively with the San Gabriel Presbyterian Church (formerly St. James), before moving to the San Marino Community Church, where she continued her volunteer work.
In her free time, she volunteered at the La Casa Community Center in San Gabriel, and was an active member of the American Legion (Posts 442 and 247), American Legion Auxiliary Post 442, the 40 et 8 and 20 et 4, and the 18th District American Legion Honor Guard, from its inception until it was disbanded after over 20 years of service with approximately 100 funerals annually. In 2010, The City of San Gabriel awarded her a commendation as the 2010 Outstanding Older American.
She is survived by her three children: James F., (Rick) Jr. (Deborah), Paralee A. Schmechel (John), and Patrick E. (Kimberly). She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Worship Service will be held at San Marino Community Church on Friday, June 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., followed by internment at Forest Lawn Covina Hills with full military honors to celebrate her amazing life.
