
Marilyn was born September 5, 1943 in West Englewood, New Jersey to Robert and Dorothy Powelson. Her formative years were spent in Fort Worth, Texas and Covina, California, alongside her brother, Robert. She then went to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she graduated and also met her husband, Peter.
Marilyn was a dedicated teacher of children with special needs and touched the lives of countless students. Not only did she befriend many students, but other peers and fellow teachers became her closest friends.
Marilyn was constantly creating. Sewing, quilting, and furniture restoration are just a few of the projects she enjoyed exploring. Marilyn also enjoyed traveling. She made it a point to visit every California mission and was very close to seeing every state in the union.
Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and loved ones.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Peter. Her legacy also includes her sons Michael and Jack, their respective wives Elizabeth and Corin, and her grandchildren Sophia, Lucia, and Luna.
