Raymond Lomas Barrera

Ray was the son of Conrado and Aurora Barrera. His father was from Del Rio Texas and his mother was from Sombrerete, Zacatecas. Ray grew up in Watts and attended Roosevelt High School. He served in the US Army at the end of the Korean War and was stationed in Austria. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cal State Los Angeles majoring in Sociology while working nights at Los Padrinos Juvenile Facility. He went on to become a Probation Officer for the County of Los Angeles where he managed boys and girls juvenile camps. Ray also was a licensed real estate broker and owner of RB Realty. Ray was predeceased by his wife Rose Barrera.

Ray is survived by his children Elizabeth Barrera Reny and Raymond Barrera along with their spouses George Reny and Esther Barrera, four grandchildren Robert Reny, his spouse Annelise Reny, Lauren Reny, Caleb Reny and Luke Barrera. Ray recently became a great grandfather with the birth of Tala Josephine Reny on September 4,2023.
