I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our dear Veljko. He was truly one of the kind: a brilliant mind, incredibly educated, talented and hardworking. A wonderful person, and a supportive and dear friend. I was fortunate to frequently see him in one of our churches or im my office and to visit with him at home. I also had a great privilege of reading many of his novels, which are displayed in an honorary place in our family library. I greatly benefit from his knowledge, wisdom and extensive life experience, while his great sense of humor brought me up every time I saw him. It was an incredible privilege and pleasure to know him. His death is a great loss not only for his family and friends but also to our community and people in the Old Country and here.
Unfortunately, I will not be in town to lay him to rest and say the last goodbyes as I will be in Montenegro, but plan on visiting his grave upon my return and will be there to pay respects at the 40 days “parastos.”
He will always be in my heart. May he rest in peace. Slava mu!
