Doris Marilyn Johnson

Doris Marilyn Johnson, 86, passed away on August 18, 2026, and is now home with the Lord. She has been reunited with her loving husband, James Charles Johnson, as well as her mother, Mary Alice, and her father, Carl.

Doris was born on March 13, 1940. From the very beginning, she showed remarkable strength. Born prematurely and weighing approximately two pounds, she overcame incredible odds as she also survived polio as a child. Her strength, determination, and resilience remained a part of who she was throughout her entire life.

On November 7, 1959, Doris married the love of her life, James. Together, they built a life and raised three beautiful children: Duane, Gregory, and Cynthia. Doris is also survived by her granddaughters, Rebecca, Amanda, and Marilyn, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren.

Doris worked compassionately and lovingly as a teacher’s aide in special education. Her patience and caring nature allowed her to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children she worked with. That same compassion was always present within her family. She cared deeply for her grandchildren, helped raise them, and provided them with love, guidance, and memories they will carry throughout their lives.

Doris found happiness in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved working in her garden and listening to the peaceful sound of the rain. She loved cats, dogs, and birds. Her appreciation for nature reflected her gentle spirit and her ability to find beauty in the world around her.

During the later years of her life, Doris was surrounded by family while living in a multigenerational household. This gave her great-grandchildren the special opportunity to spend time with her, read books to her, listen to her stories, and create memories that will remain with them as they grow older. Her presence became part of their everyday lives, and the love they shared with her will always be a part of their childhood.

Her granddaughter Marilyn’s fondest memories include the family’s Christmas dinners, cooking together, and their trip to Mammoth. Doris helped create the traditions that brought the family together year after year. She also inspired Marilyn’s passion for cooking, which eventually led her to become a cook in the United States Navy. In this way, and in so many others, Doris’s influence reached far beyond the moments they shared together.

Doris’s contributions to her family will live forever through the legacy she leaves behind. Her traditions will continue through the meals prepared for future generations, the holidays celebrated together, the stories that are shared, and the compassion her family carries into their everyday lives. Her strength taught her family how to persevere, and her love showed them the importance of caring for one another.

Per Doris’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Her immediate family will gather for a private viewing before she is laid to rest beside her beloved husband, James.

Although Doris will be deeply missed, her love will remain present in every family gathering, every shared meal, every gentle rainfall, every bird that visits the garden, and every tradition carried forward in her honor.
