

Alejandro H. Flores was born on February 11, 1937 in Tal Tal, Chile. His parents were Juan Flores and Blanca Jara. He was raised in the beautiful foothills of the Andes mountains, in the small town of Hierro Viejo in Chile. In 1978, he was married to Elizabeth Aceituno and in the year 1986, he and Elizabeth immigrated to the United States.
As a young child, Alejandro was quiet, optimistic, charismatic and playful. He got along well with everyone. He was raised with five siblings. He had two older sisters, Amelia and Mirla, an older brother, Juan, and two younger brothers, Remo and Osvaldo.
As a child, he liked to play with his brothers and sisters and teach them English and Math. Although at times he was reserved, Alejandro had the most fun when he was simply playing, and spending time with friends. He graduated from High School at Liceo de Aplicación de Santiago in 1955.
As a young man, Alejandro rarely called attention to himself. Later in his relationships when he did speak out, his message was clearly understood by those around him. He liked to talk with friends about politics, history and world events. He enjoyed good food and wine. His laughter and joy was palpable. Those who didn’t know Alejandro well might not view him as being an outgoing person, but close friends knew that his kindness and gentle nature was unmatched. His favorite hobbies were reading and listening to music. He enjoyed being physically active, playing soccer and becoming a member of the YMCA, where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth.
His primary occupation was bank executive at Banco de Credito e Inversiones in Santiago, Chile. In 1986, when Alejandro and Elizabeth immigrated to the United States, Alejandro did his best to succeed everyday. He was employed in Electronics and later Woodworking. He was admired and respected by the people who worked with him.
Alejandro had a deep love for his family, friends, the food, the culture and the people of Chile. He loved to travel to his home country, especially Hierro Viejo where he grew up. He enjoyed visiting the places and people he knew. He visited Chile many times and found pleasure in going home.
When Alejandro’s retirement finally arrived, he found new joy in volunteering at Sacred Heart Community Service, where he helped to transport food. His work as a volunteer made a difference and he enjoyed giving back to his community. He and Elizabeth enjoyed spending time together, traveling and sharing their lives.
Alejandro was exceptionally sweet and and loving when it came to the children in his life. He was a beloved and adored uncle and a sweet grandfather figure to his grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was playful, kind and gentle. His eyes lit up whenever the kids entered the room. He especially enjoyed the closeness he had with Aidan, Mia, Tiana, and Brandon.
Alejandro passed away on June 13, 2012 at home in Santa Clara, California. He was surrounded with loving family. Alejandro fought a brave battle against cancer. He is survived by his spouse Elizabeth Aceituno and his brothers and sisters. Services were held at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park in San Jose, California on July 8, 2012. Alejandro was laid to rest in Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
Alejandro H. Flores will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, a dear brother, a beloved uncle and great-uncle. He will also be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his grace and his kind and gentle spirit.
