Ana was born on December 19, 1939 in Entre Rios, Argentina. In March of 1955, she married Manuel Rodrigues Martins, and they immigrated from Argentina to San Jose, California in 1964, where they lived and raised three children: Silvia, Fernando, and Ricardo.
Just three years after immigration, Manuel and Ana opened Silva Sausage in San Jose. Almost immediately, Silva Sausage became a fixture in the local Portuguese community and Portuguese communities across the country. That sense of community was fostered from Ana’s home — all were welcome at her table, where cooking was a language of love, from her famous empanadas to a glass of Port after dinner.
Ana was an artist who loved painting. She also loved playing card games (and often won). Family was central to her life, and her happiest moments were spent surrounded by the people she loved, sharing food, laughing, and telling stories.
Ana was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel. She is survived by her three children, Silvia, Fernando, and Ricardo, and her seven grandchildren, Nathaniel, Soan, Zachary, Isabel, Mia, Alex, and Tyler. A public viewing will be held on June 8th from 4PM-6PM at Oak Hill Chapel, followed by a rosary from 6PM-6:30PM. The funeral will be held at Five Wounds Church at 10:30AM the following day, June 9th.
