Andrew G Buchanan

7, 2025 at the age of 82. Born in Montreal, Canada on March 23, 1943. Son to the late

Andrew and Edna Buchanan.  Husband to late Joann “Jody” Opoien and survived by his

former wife, Claire Daniel.  Proud dad to Sandy Swenson (Ron), Andy Buchanan

(Martha), Patrick DalCanto (Jennifer) and Steven DalCanto (Sasha).  Cherished

grandpa to Mike Swenson (Taylor), Jeff Swenson (Rachel), Sean Buchanan (Raeanne),

Chris Buchanan (Ana),Eric Gonzalez (Giuliana), Alex Gonzalez (Kathryn), Logan and

Autumn DalCanto, and Baby DalCanto, arriving this July.  Adored great grandpa to

Ainsley and Dean Swenson, Riley and Clayton Swenson, Hayes Buchanan, Julian and

Yoel Gonzalez, and Matteo and Leo Gonzalez. 

He lived a full life surrounded by love, laughter, and Saddle Rack adventures.  A true

legend with a huge heart. A lifelong hockey enthusiast, he spent decades coaching,

leaving a lasting impact on the lives he touched—both on and off the ice. A devoted

Sharks fan, the game was in his heart.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, July 7, 2025, at

St. Frances Cabrini Parish located at 15333 Woodard Rd, San Jose, CA 95124. 

Viewing will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am - Service at 11:30 am, followed by a

Celebration of Life Reception at Three Flames Restaurant located at 1547 Meridian

Ave, San Jose, CA 95125 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
