Angela (Angie) Di Leonardo Jacobs, resident of Shingle Springs, CA, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Folsom, CA. She was 93 years old. She was born on August 31, 1932, at her family home in Sunnyvale, CA as Angelina Di Leonardo to her parents Giuseppe (Joe) Di Leonardo and Maria (Mary) Anna Caputo Di Leonardo, both of whom emigrated to the United States from Italy.
Angie grew up in Sunnyvale along with her siblings Tony, Sam, Mike, Rosalie, Ann, Lucille, and Jeanie whom all predeceased her. They were a close-knit family and spent many holidays together creating wonderful memories for their children. Angie had an infectious laugh and never laughed harder than when she was with her siblings.
Angie loved learning and excelled in school and was proud of her perfect attendance record when she was in high school at Fremont High in Sunnyvale. She was also proud to be one of only two female students in her otherwise all-male physics class. She worked summers at the local Libby’s canning factory and initially lied about her age to get the job. Money was tight in the 1940s. After her high school “bobby-soxer” years, she worked at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
Angie met Thomas Frank Jacobs while attending a dance at Moffett Field in May 1952, while Tom was in the Navy. When Tom laid eyes on her, he said to his friend, “That’s the woman I’m going to marry.” They indeed married on November 23, 1952, in Sunnyvale, CA, and remained married for 62 years until Tom’s passing in 2015.
While Tom was still in the Navy, they spent time in Southern CA. When Tom was honorably discharged, they made their home back in Sunnyvale. Angie went back to work at NASA’s Ames Research Center where she was employed as a Mathematics Aide, performing mathematical calculations. Angie and Tom lived in the Bay Area for several years before moving to Mendocino County, then Lake County, and eventually to El Dorado County.
Angie was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan, a voracious reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles,
and loved watching and playing along with the TV show “Jeopardy”.
She was an intelligent wordsmith and would try to correct her children’s English misusage, often to no avail. While residing in Mendocino County, she penned a column in the local newspaper called “Redwood Valley Ramblings”. She kept busy writing letters to family and friends and loved entering local and online drawings, where her biggest win was a car. She enjoyed collecting angels and going to garage sales with her husband, Tom and selling on eBay.
Even in her elder years, Angie retained her radiant smile and loved most of all visits from family (often accompanied by “bear hugs”).
Angie is survived by six children: along with multiple grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is very much loved and sincerely missed.
A celebration of Angie’s life was held at Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, San Jose, California on January 15, 2026. She was laid to rest next to her husband at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family invites all who knew her to share their favorite memories here.
