Antonia Ramirez

Antonia “Maria” Ledesma de RAMIREZ, was born in Del Rio, Texas on September 16, 1926 to Francisco Ledesma and Racaela Chapoy Ledesma. Maria was a loving daughter whom at a very young age after the death of her mother helped raise her four brothers and one sister. Maria, assisting her father, took on the responsibilities of the home and was more of a mother figure to her siblings as she guided them through their school years and into adulthood. Through the years the family would travel to San Jose, California to work in the canary to help her father. While working, she gave of herself selflessly making sure that the family was well taken care of. She would assume the duties of the home, always making sure meals were prepared, and her siblings’ clothes were clean and pressed for the next day of school or work.

It was during one of those trips to California while attending a dance, a handsome young man approached and ask her to dance. Ruben Ramirez was the young man that won her heart and love. They were married for 59 years. From that love three children were born Eddie, Rene and Norma. Maria and Ruben made their home in San Jose, CA. She is proceeded in death by her parents Francisco and Racaela, brothers, Pablo, Pedro, Juan, Hermilo, and sister, Enedina Valadez.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Ruben Ramirez, son Eddie Ramirez and wife Rosalinda from Del Rio, TX, son Rene Ramirez and wife Susan from Morgan Hill, CA, daughter Norma Ramirez from San Jose, CA, and grandchildren, Nicholas, Erica and Eddie Ramirez Jr.
