

A California native, Antonio was born in Monterey on December 5, 1929. He lived briefly in El Cerrito before settling in San Jose, where he graduated from San Jose High School, Class of 1948.
In 1951, Antonio met Billie, his wife of 73 years, while serving in the U.S. Navy Reserves and on shore leave in Long Beach, California. He later served as a U.S. Navy Corpsman during the Korean War aboard the hospital ship USS Consolation. Following his military service, Antonio graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and began a 34-year career teaching junior high.
Antonio taught at Hopland Junior High School before returning to San Jose, where he taught Spanish at Castro Junior High School until his retirement in 1991. He was very committed to his students and took great pride in his work.
Antonio is survived by his two sons, David of San Jose and Anthony of Sunnyvale. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie, who passed away at age 91, and by his son Edward, who died at age 15.
Interment will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause Tony and Billie supported for many years.
