He was born in Tenant, California on December 8th, 1933 and spent his early years in Weed, CA. He graduated from Weed High School in 1951 and went on to attend Chaffey College where he studied Aeronautics and Aircraft Engine Mechanics, graduating in 1953. Soon after, he married his wife Gloria Gonzales and together they had three beautiful girls: Debbie, Glenda, and Sandra.
Lino went on to serve in the army from 1956 – 1958, earning high remarks and honors from his commanding officers for his dependability and loyalty. After the army, Avelino took over management of Safeway for 16 years, followed by a sales position working for Langendorf and Dolly Madison bakery brands – this is no doubt where his memorable sweet tooth came from! Lino had many jobs and he loved learning. He had a passion for history and was happy to share stories about what he had learned over the years with anyone who would listen. He loved travel and adventure, visiting many places including Mexico, Germany, Italy, and Hawaii to name a few. He was looking forward to his next adventure, visiting The Alamo and his family plans to complete that trip in his honor.
Lino is survived by his three daughters, two brothers: Henry and Si Gonzales, five granddaughters, six great-grandchildren, with another on the way. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, April 22nd, 2021 at "The Grace Chapel", top of the hill at Oak Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave. San Jose, CA. Visitation 9:30am and Service at 10:00am
In lieu of flowers we ask that you please make a donation to the Humane Society Silicon Valley in Avelino’s name as he loved the animals.
