Carl Leroy Montoya

Carl is survived and deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Diana-Desiree and their son, Aran Montoya. Forever loved and remembered by his grandchildren, Alex, Max, Andrew and Adam Montoya and Brittany Maher.

Carl was born to Pedro L. Montoya and Julianna Gandert on May 7, 1942 in Grand Valley, Colorado. Carl was the youngest of seven sons and one daughter. He attended school in Grand Valley and Rodeo, California; he moved to Washington State and completed his high school education at Shoreline High School, Class of 1960. Shortly after high school graduation, IBM employees brother George and sister-in-law Irene encouraged Carl to return to San Jose to apply for a position at IBM. He held various positions at IBM, the final position as Facilities Manager after 32 years and nine months.

Carl's hobbies included reading, J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He also enjoyed live music at the Fillmore Auditorium and Winterland in San Francisco; favorites were Carlos Santana, Allman Brothers, the Pointer Sisters and Tower of Power. Our camping adventures were great fun and often included other family members.
