

Carlos Alberto de Sousa Reis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 7, 2025, in San Jose, California, at the age of 83. Born on August 16, 1941, in Santa Luzia, Terceira, Acores, Portugal, Carlos lived a life full of adventure, love, and laughter, leaving an enduring mark on all who knew him.
Carlos was a talented athlete who played professional soccer for Sport Clube Lusitânia in Acores from the age of 18 to 22. At 23, he proudly served as a sergeant in the Portuguese Army, stationed in Guinea from 1963 to 1966.
After his military service, Carlos worked as an administrator for the Police Department of Terceira from 1966 to 1973, and later with SATA Airlines from 1973 to 1977. In 1977, he immigrated to the United States, where he turned his love of travel into a successful travel agency. Recognizing a need in the Portuguese community, Carlos also began assisting with immigration services, helping countless families find new opportunities in America.
In recognition of his dedicated service and contributions, Carlos was honored by the Portuguese government for his invaluable support of immigration to the United States.
Carlos’s passion for life was evident in his love of soccer, travel, and family. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, he could always bring a smile to those around him. A true soccer enthusiast, Carlos would simultaneously watch one game on TV, listen to another on the radio, and follow a third on his headset. His love for travel took him and his wife on over 15 cruises, creating countless memories and exploring the world together.
Above all, Carlos was a devoted family man who took immense pride in his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Liduina C. Reis; his daughters Paula Myers and Dulce Horton; his son-in-law Dan Myers; and his cherished grandchildren Carson Myers, Reese Myers, and Andreia Medeiros.
Carlos’s legacy of humor, kindness, and devotion to his family and community will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
