Carol Ellen (Barnes) Shanks, 81, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on July 5, 2020.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00am on August 6, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose California.

Carol was born in Tacoma Washington on January 11, 1939. She spent much of her youth with her family up at Lake Cavanaugh, Wa. Carol moved to Los Gatos, California after High School where she became a surgical tech for many years while raising her son Steven. She then moved to Mount Vernon, Wa in 1977, where she lived at Lake Cavanaugh for another 30 years, back to her favorite place to be while she was growing up. She was a volunteer firefighter for the Lake Cavanaugh fire department then became their secretary and helped in many fund raising events. Which she loved very much. She also delivered the lake newspapers for many years as well.

Carol is survived by her Son Steven Shanks, his wife Julie Shanks, her grandson Steven Shanks II, her great granddaughter Kaylie Anderson, great grandsons Truman and Liam Sherwood, her sister Karen Davis, and her nephew Alan Ingram.

Carol is preceded in death by her father Henry Barnes, her mother Phyllis Andrew's Barnes, her granddaughter Yvette Nicole Sherwood and her best friend Jean Williard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Lake Cavanaugh Volunteer Fire Dept or the Lake Cavanaugh Improvement Association in Mount Vernon, Wa. Or at the lakecavanaugh.info
