

On December 25, 2015, Cesar “Larry” Dulan passed away at the age of 95 in the Amberwood Gardens Rehabilitation Center.Born February 14, 1920 in Kohala, Hawaii, he was the oldest of ten children born to Rosendo and Alberta Dulan. His family worked in Hawaii as sakadas, who were Filipino people from the Visayas and Ilocos regions of the Philippines to perform unskilled labor for the Hawaiian Sugar Planters’ Association. Cesar was as a merchant marine for over ten years; part of this time was during World War II, when the ship he worked in delivered troops and war materials. After acquiring skills during his time as a merchant marine, he moved on to work as a chef at Tarantino’s Restaurant in San Francisco. He married his first wife, Buena, in 1956, and lived happily with her for 30 years until she passed away on June 10, 1987. A new chapter of Cesar’s life began when he married his second wife, Clarita Dulan, on November 9, 1987.Cesar is survived not only by Clarita, but by his son Dennis Ofalla and his daughter Catherine Ofalla-Hernando; his daughter-in-law Pia Ofalla and his son-in-law Dominique Hernando; his grandchildren Caitlyn, Coelle, Isabella, Mikaela, and Nicole; his siblings Fannie Alejandro, Henry Dulan, Lourdes Manuel, Paul Dulan, Pete Dulan, as well as his many nieces and nephews, many of whom still reside in his birthplace of Hawaii. Cesar will be deeply missed. There will be a viewing on Thursday, January 7th from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and a prayer vigil at 6 p.m. at the Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Chapel of the Oaks, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose CA 95125. On Friday, January 8th, a funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 5111 San Felipe Rd., San Jose CA 95135. The funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Skylawn Memorial Park, Hwy 92 at Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94402.
