Cynthia Teruko Sato Iwamura entered into rest on May 9, 2016 due to complications from gastric cancer at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by parents, Toshio and Grace Sato, and sister, Sandy Hiroshima. She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Rod Iwamura, brother in law, Richard Hiroshima, niece Lauren, nephew Ryan, brother in law Lance Iwamura (Amy), niece Jenna, brother in law Kent Iwamura (Libby), niece Kendra (Mike) and nephew Keenan (Stephanie), Aunt Shirley Sanda, Aunt Doris Sanwo, Uncle and Aunt Ted and Mary Eto, Uncle Chet Santo and many cousins.
She loved her work for she worked for some of the most successful high tech companies in Silicon Valley (Apple, Sun Microsystems, Cisco Systems, Adobe
Systems, and PayPal) but it was the network of friends she cherished the most. They all gave her support and encouragement through the years.
Cindy loved to help others. She did most of her work for the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, Sanga Support, YJA Caregivers, and the Yu-Ai Kai Senior Center. She was involved in many fund raisers and other group activities. She got so much personal satisfaction by being involved. She will be remembered someone who was a stickler to details and her take charge attitude. She loved cats. She knew all of the names of her neighbor cats and created quite a collection of cat memorabilia. Dancing at the San Jose Obon was a passion of hers. She made it a point to dance at the San Jose Obon every year. She will be sadly missed this year.
Funeral services will be held at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin at 1pm on Saturday, June 4, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin Building Fund, Yu-Ai Kai, or the Silicon Valley Humane Society.
