

David Lovett, born on February 2, 1944, in Ventura, California, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. David's life was a tapestry of hard work, love, and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
David was the beloved son of Earl and Emma Lovett, who predeceased him, along with his cherished wife, Robin Lovett. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nina Lovett, whom he married on August 14, 2020. David and Nina shared a beautiful partnership, having been together for 21 years, filled with love and mutual respect. A dedicated father, David is survived by his children: Brett Lovett, Logan Lovett and his wife Kaitlen, Nolan Lovett and his wife Inae, Karly Ledbetter and her husband Pete, and Jennie Trapanese. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren: Zaiden, Marcus, and Theodore Lovett, and Preston and Keller Ledbetter, who brought immense joy to his life. David was a man who found great purpose in his work. In 1986, alongside his partner Russ Scheibley, he founded DRT Grading & Paving Inc. This venture became a cornerstone of his life, serving the Bay Area for decades. Known for his dedication and integrity, David mentored numerous young men in the industry, fostering lasting relationships that continued well after his retirement in 2021. Beyond his professional accomplishments, David had a passion for life that was evident in his love for riding his Harleys. He cherished the time spent with his beloved pets, Mimi, Bugsy, and Bella, and mourned the recent loss of his cat, Lucky, who passed away just six days before him.
David was known for his gruff exterior that belied a heart full of kindness and generosity. He touched many lives with his compassion and willingness to help others, leaving a legacy of love and kindness. David Lovett's life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
