At age 62, David Keith Salois passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 9, 2026.
Born on August 4, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, David entered the world as the beloved son of John “Jack” Salois and Freda Salois. His family later settled in San Jose, California, where he attended Archbishop Mitty High School and formed the friendships and interests that stayed with him for decades, including a lifelong loyalty to the San Jose Sharks. As the third of four siblings, David grew up with a deep love of family, adventure and the outdoors.
David proudly served his community as a Firefighter with the Santa Clara County Fire Department from 1990 until his retirement in 2013. His years in the fire service shaped friendships and countless memories, and he carried immense pride in the career in which he dedicated his life to helping others.
David is survived by his Mother and his three children—Chelsea, Caitlin, and Jack—and his seven beloved grandchildren: Bethany, Carmella, Lawson, Rowan, Wells, Lydia, and Crew. He affectionately referred to them as his “Mag Seven,” and nothing brought him greater joy than being their “Poo-paw”.
David spent many years fishing in Mexico and Alaska, and he was an enthusiastic hunter. Friends and family will forever cherish the stories that came from his time spent in the outdoors—always accompanied by his contagious laugh, sharp humor, and generous spirit.
In retirement, David moved to Idaho, where he spent his later years rock hunting, exploring nature, and enjoying a quieter pace of life.
David will be remembered as a devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and a man who lived life fully, loved deeply, and made everyone around him feel welcome and valued.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 15th at Oak Hill Funeral Home, Chapel of the Roses, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
A celebration of David’s life will follow at The Villages Golf Course & Country Club located at 2800 Fairway Dr. San Jose, CA 95135 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
