Deane Yoshida, age 55, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of July 4, 2016. He was born a preemie baby at 3.5 lbs on Christmas Day, December 25, 1960 in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, where his father was stationed in the US Army. Although Deane's health had been increasingly challenged for the past five years, having to endure kidney dialysis, sleep apnea and heart surgeries & issues, his sudden passing was unexpected and we are deeply saddened by our loss.
Deane is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Ralph and Flora Yoshida of Saratoga, CA and his three siblings, sister Diane Yoshida Toale, husband Danny, and daughter Tatiana Toale, elder brother Brian Yoshida, wife Kristi, and their daughter Kaylee and sons David & Andrew Yoshida, and niece Traci Fox, brother Albert Yoshida, wife Karen, and their sons Albert Jr. & Noah Yoshida, and nephew Brandon Wallen. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins who love him so deeply.
Being the youngest of four, Deane enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in Bad Kreuznach, Ft. Ord, Monterey, CA, San Jose, Cupertino and Saratoga. Mom and Dad always provided the best, and the family enjoyed outings and vacations to many different kinds of places. He was active in sports during grade school playing Little League baseball, and later participated in swimming, wrestling and football at Saratoga High School. He was also a member of the marching band, a drummer of course. Deane attended Chico State, studying Business and met many of his best friends during his college years. Deane really enjoyed music, traveling, and many outdoor activities, including skiing, snow shoeing, cycling, sailing, rafting, tubing, fishing, camping, backpacking, mountain climbing and scuba diving. In his later years, Deane enjoyed playing golf, and played & coached ice hockey, inspired by the San Jose Sharks. He also coached football, assisting his brother Brian. And like all Yoshidas, Deane loved to cook!
Deane lived life to the fullest and truly blessed all who knew him with his charm, sense of humor, deep compassion and understanding. He will be remembered especially for his kind heart, his great wisdom and his beautiful smile.
He was a man who pursued his passions which included cooking, construction, house painting, and had his own business offering closet design services. Deane worked tirelessly for Dad, helping behind the scenes for years with his dental practice. He worked many years with sister Diane at California T-Shirt Company, doing everything from production and screen printing to the books and taxes, taking care of all aspects of the business. He was well loved by the staff and clients, and was her rock during the years she needed him most. He also worked with his close friends giving his best to whatever they needed. Deane's service was devoted to family and friends.
Deane was so beloved by his Mom and Dad. At the end, he lived at home with them and cared for them with such love and patience. He was the one who gave all that he could, preparing the meals and taking care of all the chores and needs around the house. If anyone could fix it, or knew what to do, it was Deane. He was the master on the family BBQ and the family always enjoyed their time together celebrating each other's birthdays and all holidays together. Deane would travel to Hawaii with Mom and Dad, preparing for all that they needed. He will be greatly missed by his parents and family, but we know with confidence he waits for us at Heaven's Gate, to welcome us to our eternal home.
The wisdom and character that blessed Deane was a gift that he shared with all who knew him. He was so knowledgable on many subjects, but his true gift was his wisdom. He would always choose to do and say the right thing. He was a man of intense integrity. He would counsel his nieces and nephews, and friends, spending hours talking with them and explaining "life" from God's point of view. He shared so many of these Godly character qualities with anyone he met on his path through life. He deeply loved his family, and cared so much for all of them.
Deane had peace in his heart because of his deep faith in Jesus Christ. Despite his health issues, he was one to never complain, and he never once uttered the words, "why me?". Deane was so brave and had a bold inner strength that carried him through his many struggles with his health. Without his strong relationship with our Lord, he could NOT have gone through all the challenges that faced him at the end of his life. He is rejoicing now in Heaven, free from pain, helping to prepare a beautiful home and garden for his family, patiently waiting for his beloved to join him.
Deane was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. We will miss our precious Deane, but hold his memory deep in our hearts until we are reunited with him again in Eternity. We LOVE you so much, Deane! Wait for us.
And as he would often say, "later, love ya!". God bless each and every one of you as we remember him today and may your memories of Deane stay in your heart forever
