Diane was born in Del Rio, Texas and moved to California with her parents and siblings when she was 8 years old, where she set down roots and built a happy life with her loving husband, Ruben. Diane spent many years volunteering in her children’s schools, organizing events such as carnivals and field trips, attending countless baseball games, cross country meets, swim meets, and soccer games. Not long after, Diane found a passion working in a high school classroom for students with special needs, where she helped teach life skills and crafts for almost 20 years until she retired. Each day, she went to work with a smile on her face, a sense of purpose, and an eagerness to visit with coworkers who became cherished lifelong friends.
Diane will be remembered for her upbeat personality, cheerful smile, love of music, dancing, and laughing. The bond she shared with her brothers and sisters was dear to her heart, and the love she poured into her grandchildren was immeasurable. There is no road she wouldn’t travel for each of them, and no smile was brighter than when she was hugging them.
Diane is survived by her loving husband of almost 47 years, Ruben Alva Sr.; her son, George David Medrano; daughter, Christina Alva Garcia; son-in-law, Antonio Garcia II; son, Ruben Alva Jr.; daughter, Denise Alva; grandson, Daniel Andrés Mandujano; grandson, David Josiah Zuniga Alva; grandson, Robert Alva Garcia. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
