Donna Kay Bright
April 28, 1941 – June 30, 2019
Donna Kay Bright passed away on June 30th, 2019 peacefully, surrounded by her family.
We have lost a wonderful woman, she was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great- grandmother.
Donna was born April 28, 1941 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Albert Lee Dougherty and Emma Loretta Smith. While growing up in a very challenged life, at a young age she helped take care of her younger siblings and sold flowers in town. She was married in her early 20's to her second husband, William Bright, whom she loved dearly. They had a long and loving life until he passed away in 2009. She moved to San Jose, California from Sonora, California in 2012 to be closer to her family.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, boating (anything next to a lake or river), baking with her granddaughter, drawing and oil painting. In her younger years she was an avid bowler and very competitive, with no matter what she was doing, even if it was playing a bowling game on her Wii game system with her family. She always gave it her all no matter what she was doing. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her immediate family, sisters Darlene and Barbara, her sons Roger, Randall, Jack, Edward, and her only daughter, Christine. Adored by grandchildren Heather, Brandon and Rachael and her great grandchild Connor.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 3, 2019 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, CA 95125.
