Dorothy Carmela Fernandez

Dorothy Fernandez peacefully passed at the age of 99 surrounded by her 4 children- Stephen, Therese, David, and Elizabeth. She was born in Whittier to Frank and Rosa Teresi, both immigrants from Sicily. She was raised in Whittier and graduated from Whittier High School in 1943. After graduation she joined her family who had moved to Los Altos. She attended school in San Francisco and became a medical transcriptionist at the Palo Alto Hospital. She met her future husband Julio Fernandez at a Quid Novi event in Los Altos and was married on December 2, 1950. They eventually settled in Santa Clara where they lived most of their lives. The following year they started their family and raised a family of four, Stephen, Therese, David and Elizabeth. After her husband retired, they traveled extensively across the US as well as Sicily and Panama to see family. She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years Julio in 2017. She is also predeceased by her 4 siblings Rose, Pete, Sam and Joe and her granddaughter Natalie. She leaves behind her children Stephen (Ron), Therese, David ( Rosemary) Elizabeth ( David) , is 5 grandchildren David Jr., Juliana (Nader), Nicholas (Hayley), Anthony ( Meagan) and Angelina and 8 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and in laws. She will be missed by many of her friends. A special thanks to the staff at Oakmont especially Daniel as well as the staff of Amazing Care and Kaiser San Jose Hospice. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday June 3, 2025 at 11 am at Santa Teresa Catholic Church, 794 Calero Avenue, San Jose, CA 95123. Funeral arrangements by Willow Glen Funeral Home, San Jose.
