To the Sato Family,
 
We were so sad to hear the news regarding Dorothy.  Everything that we have read about how she was such a giving, thoughtful, welcoming, (etc.) person are all true and perhaps under exaggerated.  We have been so blessed to know her and your family.  The only pleasant thought that I have is seeing Dorothy and Donna enjoying each other's company again.

i have some memories of my brother Yosh at San Jose State College dating Dorothy while going to school there.  She was trying to get into the Occupational Therapy Program which was highly sought after training and very difficult to get accepted which she made it through so well.  She had a nick name Murphy (spelling?) and was very friendly & helpful.  I started a summer job at the Post Office carrrying mail, experienced a strange pain in my hands while working.  It was called Carpel Tunnel Syndrome but the PO and the Labor Department did not recognize it.  It was good to get a second opinion about it from Dorothy but the claim was rejected as a Workers Comp case as fictious pain.  Dorothy was very helpful during that time. We had some fun times at SJS and YBA activities which many young poeple enjoyed.  It is a great loss for the family and community to lose her so early in life.  We will cherish her in our memories forever!

Mrs. Sato always had a beautiful and warm smile to greet you with.  She was the kindest most friendly and thoughtful person!  I will miss seeing her friendly face and her beautiful smile.  My heart goes out to Crissy and family.  Sending my deepest condolences.  💞

I will miss you my long time friend. Both of us have our roots in Lindsay where we grew up and attended Lindsay High School together. Years ago our moms found out that we both lived in San Jose.  I remember calling you and was surprised that you lived so close to me in the Berryessa area. For years you dropped off a stack of the Lindsay Gazette newspapers so I could read up on the local news.  Reconnecting with you over the years brought back conversation of our town and classmates. You are gone now but you will always be remembered. R.I.P. Dorothy 💐

Christine and Family, I met Mrs. Sato at Independence High School.  I was a Guidance Counselor to her Daughters.  She was an amazing Mother.  She never came without bringing something for the front office and I was always the recipient of something beautiful or yummy.  I was born in Lindsay where she grew up. We knew some of the same people from there.  She was the most loving and caring person you could ever meet.  The world has lost a  BRILLIANT PERSON!!  I loved you Dorothy!🙏😘💔❤️

I’m so sad to hear of Mrs Sato’s passing. She would brighten up my day when I would see her and yosh walking around Jtown. She always had a smile and asked about me and my family or the church. 
I will always remember her!!

My friend Mike and I started going to 7 Bamboo in 1998.  Dorothy was always nice to us, sharing snacks or just asking us how we were doing.  Her face would aways light up when she saw us, and always the enthusiastic clapper in the audience.

I think my fondest memory of her was teaching us about the “Tanko Bushi”.  "Push the cart, push the cart, shovel the coal, sweep the arms, all done" Like most people in Japantown, she was welcoming, sharing her love culture (and snacks) with anyone that stopped by.  She was a good lady.  Thank you Dorothy.

So sad to hear of Dorothy's passing - I remember singing duets with her at karaoke at 4th St Bowl - especially songs like Kitasakaba and Naniwa Bushi by Hosokawa Takashi. Hard to say goodbye to one of the Golden Girls.
Dorothy was one of the most upbeat and caring of friends - we will all miss her so much!

I was so shocked to hear that Dorothy has passed.  She was the sweetest, most thoughtful lady I was privileged to know.  I will always rember her warmth and her smile.  May she rest in eternal peace.🙏
