Doug graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory and later earned a degree in Industrial Design from San Jose State University. He worked at Intel in the early 1970s before founding his own silk screening business, Spectra Graphics. Later in life, Doug combined his appreciation for beauty and design with his love of people, working in several art galleries in Carmel, and eventually at Trader Joe's, where he spent fifteen years at locations in Campbell and Santa Cruz.
Doug was a free spirit who loved to experience new things. He enjoyed great conversation, a friendly game of dominoes, and fine wine. His positive attitude, easygoing nature, and warm sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Throughout his illness, Doug continued to live life on his own terms, enjoying people and activities that brought him joy.
Doug is survived by his loving daughters, Stacy D’Amico of Los Gatos and Andrea Malae of San Jose; his son-in-law, Jacob Malae; and his beloved granddaughters, Ava, Giana, and Lia Malae. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Joyce D’Amico; his parents, Emil and Lillian D’Amico of San Jose; and his brother, Charles D’Amico of El Dorado Hills.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 12:00pm at St. Christopher Church, 2278 Booksin Avenue, San Jose.
