Mrs. Dư was born on June 25, 1915 in Saigon, Vietnam, in the family of two daughters and one son. Her older sister Sanh passed away in her early twenties. Dư grew up and spent most of her life with her 6-years younger brother Da who just passed away last March of 2010. She attended Gia-long High school, formerly known as Truong Ao-Tim. At 19-years old, she married Mr. Diên Tan Nguyen – 23 years old, of Gia-dinh, Vietnam, by the arrangement of family. Unfortunately, the marriage lasted only 4 years. Several years later, Mrs. Dư moved back to Saigon to live with her parents and her brother, and had lived a very quiet life since then, raising her two dear daughters. She had worked until retirement in an office of Agriculture Department (So Tuc’ Me), located at the corner of Phan-thanh-Gian & Nguyen-binh-Khiem, Dakao (Saigon). In April 1975, she immigrated to Oregon, USA, with her oldest daughter Hoa’s family and her brother Da’s family. In 1990, she moved to San Jose and had lived with grand-daughter PhuongAnh – the daughter of her oldest daughter, Hoa. She meditated and read Buddhism bible every day. She enjoyed gardening. Her favorite plants are roses and all kinds of herbs and vegetables. She is a sweet person and is loved by everyone who knows her.
