In Loving Memory of Mr. Elias Chamorro Jr.
(June 29, 1941 – July 4, 2026)

​The W.C. Overfelt High School community lost a true giant with the passing of our former principal, Mr. Elias Chamorro. He wasn't just the leader of our school; he was its heartbeat, its fiercest protector, and its biggest fan.

​To those of us who knew him around campus or on the mats, Mr. Chamorro was a kind and supportive figure. As a former wrestling coach, he carried the grit, discipline, and passion of the sport into every hallway and classroom. He believed down to his core that education and athletics went hand in hand—that the dedication required to push through a grueling third period on the mat was the exact same drive needed to succeed in life and in the classroom.

​He didn't just support the Royal Royals wrestling program from an office; he was right there in the gym, bringing an unmatched energy and pride to our team. He taught generations of student-athletes through sports.

​Thank you, Mr. Chamorro, for always pulling for us, believing in our potential, and showing us what it means to lead with heart. Your legacy will live on in every Royal who walks with the confidence and character you helped build. Rest in peace, Mr. Chamorro.
