My memories of Mom are all good.  She was fun, smart, talented and devoted to her kids and grandkids.  She was a font of knowledge that I went to often.  I could ask her about anything and she would know what to do.  

When I think of Mom, I remember what an incredible seamstress she was.  She could sew anything—clothes, curtains—she even sewed a custom car cover for Michael's truck.  I remember her re-upholstering several pieces of furniture over the years, too.  No task was too daunting for her.  She would tackle almost anything.  She was a fantastic cook and baker as well.  Her pies and cakes were never around long enough to go stale.  Everything she made was from scratch. 

My mother was my best friend and much, much more.  We shopped together until she was unable to walk; we shared recipes until she was unable to see; we shared laughs when it was too hard to do anything else.  I wasn't ready to say good-bye.  She has left a hole in my world and I miss her every day.  

There is an old Irish blessing that one of the priests used to say at the end of mass that helps me when I think of Mom…

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

 Erma Lucile (Waite) Barton

Jason Sattar's message is on target.  Lucile was always cheerful, put others first and brighten any room she entered.

Lucile was the 3 child of William Clarence Waite
  B 2Oct1894 in Edgar Co. IL- D 18Nov1976 and
  Lena Pearl Moore B 15Aug1896 in Payne Co.    
  D 5May1985.

Lucile's pictures with her red hair reminded me that some of her brothers called her "RED" but as you can see below, RED was common in our generation.

My Grandma was the most selfless and caring person I know.  Her love for us was always apparent in her actions.

I will always remember the time that I lived with her and my Grandpa while my Mom was sick in the hospital.  She helped my brother and I through that difficult period in our lives by shielding us from the reality of the situation, providing a loving environment and making light of all the trouble my brother and I got into.

Her death leaves a void in this family that can't be filled.  She will be greatly missed by myself and our entire family.
