Ethel was born on November 30 1919 in Fresno, California. At a young age her family
moved back to the Kansas farm. Her mother and father both passed when she was a
young girl. At that time, she moved in with her sister, Edith where she lived until
completing high school. In route to nursing school in Kansas City she stopped to visit
her Aunt Faye. While there she met her future husband, Clarence and the rest is
history. Clarence and Ethel married and had three sons, Monty, Robert and Jay. They
were a loving couple married for 69 years and completely devoted to their family.
They left the farm and moved to Mt Shasta and subsequently to nearby Dunsmuir,
California. Ethel spent time with family camping and enjoying the outdoors. In 1955
the family moved to Campbell where Ethel and Clarence had family and also made long
lasting friends.
As their sons grew and had their own families, Ethel and Clarence always looked
forward to attending their grandchildren’s school and sports activities. Through the
years Ethel extended her hospitality to numerous family members and friends. She
loved to cook and was a wonderful baker hosting many holiday dinners.
Ethel and Clarence traveled to Europe, the Holy Land, went on cruises and traveled
extensively in the United States in their motorhome with friends and family.
Ethel is survived by her sons Monty, Robert and Jay, grandchildren Monty Boyd, Jr.,
Michelle Boyd-Klemba, Brian Boyd, Beth Burch, Kristen Brada and Tiffany Rumburger,
and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 8th at 2:00pm at Oak Hill Funeral
