Felix Papa, a resident of San Jose, California and beloved husband of Josefina, passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 28, 2023. He was 97 years old.
Born in Taguig, Rizal, Philippines on January 7, 1926, he was the fifth of seven children of the late Adriano and Brigida. Felix graduated from University of the East with a degree in Commerce. Felix’s professional career was mostly in the service of various intelligence agencies of the Philippine government. Felix moved to California in the early 80’s.
Felix and Josefina celebrated their 74 th wedding anniversary on October 10. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his sister Gaudiosa and his 10 children: Loretta, Bernardo and wife Linda, Virginia and husband Frank, Esperanza and husband Allen, Danilo and wife Asuncion, Joselito and wife Vivien, Rommel and wife Carmina, Catherine, Myrian and husband Robert, and Philip,. “Tatay” is also survived by his 20 loving grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Felix will forever be remembered for his lifelong devotion to the Catholic faith, a former member of Cursillo and Couples for Christ, his passion for crossword puzzles, solitaire, Oakland A’s, Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers. As a younger man, he was a skilled duckpin bowler, an ace billiards player and a competent pelota player. He also spent a fair amount of time at the racetracks.
There will be a public viewing at Oak Hill Memorial on March 3, 2023. A Funeral service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church on March 4, 2023 at 10am.
