Memories of Uncle Gary
 
My memories of Uncle Gary go back as far as I can remember.
He was my dad’s best friend and has always been Uncle Gary to me.  
 
I remember countless pool parties at our house, visits with them and the mini farm they once had – Uncle Gary’s laugh and “oh Lloyd” still play in my head when I think of him.  He was always so fun to have around.  
 
I know he & my dad had some pretty wild stories of their days in High School and beyond. I’m fully aware that many stories were not shared with us kids for good reason.  I’m sure we heard the rated G versions.  I do know they had a lot of fun times together throughout the years.
 
I can remember being a kid and going to visit Gary at the laundry.  The machines were so load and scary at the time.  Harold & Mamie would be there and Gary would take me to the soda machine for a Coke.  I don’t think I ever got used to the loud noises the machinery would make as a kid, as an adult they became very familiar and are now like white noise.
 
Of course I was very saddened when I heard about Uncle Gary’s passing – for his family who loved him so much and also for my dad, who lost his best friend.  He will always hold a very special place in our hearts.  
 
I’ve included a picture of Gary and I when I was about 15-16 years old.  It’s one of my all time favorites.
