Genia Sabathia: loving daughter, wife, mother and sister. She was well loved by so many. God gifted Genia’s beautiful spirit to us on October 16, 1952 in Vallejo, California. She was called away on December 7, 2022 with her loving husband, Edwin Sabathia, of 51 years by her side.
She graduated from Vallejo High School, Class of 1971 & married her high school sweetheart shortly after. After graduation she worked at Mare Island Naval Base as an administrative assistant. She worked as a bill clerk with First National bank in Oklahoma City before finally staying home to raise her children.
Genia gave birth to three beautiful children: Angela, EJ, & Brian. Genia & Edwin’s kind hearts & loving spirits led them to adopt Sierra when she was a toddler. She deeply loved her children & always showered them with so much affection. Genia in general just loved children & often referred to them as precious little babies.
Genia was committed to following & spreading the word of Christ, this commitment guided her every action. She was baptized at the Griffin Drive Church of Christ in Vallejo. Genia was a long-time member of both the 8th Street Church of Christ & Central Church of Christ in San Jose. Most recently she attended the Ham Lane Church of Christ in Lodi. At each church Genia attended, she taught bible classes for the younger children. She had the loving patience to work & teach them about God.
She had a fierce love for her family & was a loyal friend. Genia was a prayer warrior! She prayed for family & friends constantly. Genia truly went the extra mile to help people, loved to talk, & regarded no one as a stranger.
