George Carl Osorio

George was called to heaven to be with his Savior on Oct. 2, 2013 at 2pm. He was 86 years young.

Born in Redwood City, CA on August 27, 1927 to Carlos and Clara Osorio; newspaper articles document George was of Native California Indian heritage. He married Gloria on June 25, 1950, they were married for 63 magnificent years and had three children who loved him greatly; Victoria, Dennis, and Michele.

George was a Merchant Marine from 1945 to 1947. After 30 years, George retired from Lockheed Missile and Space, showing his determination and hard work by obtaining secret clearance as an inspector. He worked on special projects like the famous Gemini SC3 spaceship and received a medallion from the Columbia crew.

An avid sports fan, particularly of the LA Dodgers and LA Rams (and later, the St. Louis Rams), he delighted in joining with family and friends who might be SF 49er or SF Giants fans, and engaging in some good natured rivalry.

Any time family and friends were to visit him at home; George would retrieve one of his many guitars and belt out a few tunes. He loved the Blues. You would catch George dancing all of the time; he didn’t care where he was or which grandchild he might be embarrassing. One of his greatest specialties was making up funny words to existing songs and singing them to his family. He never failed to produce a smile or an, “Oh Papa!”

Besides his love for sports and music, George enjoyed riding his motorcycle to picnics, birthday parties or visiting friends.

George was a kind, generous, and entertaining man who always knew how to put a smile on your face. If you didn’t get the joke, he would simply say “Goodnight Irene” and walk away with a sly smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. However, as George always said, this isn’t goodbye, but simply, “Over and out”.

George is survived by his wife, Gloria, his children; Victoria (Kevin), Dennis (Peggy), and Michele. He is survived by his grandchildren; Michele (Tom), Bernadette, Nikoo, Stephen, Desiree (Mike), Daniel (Esmeralda), Christopher, Cheyenne, and Mitchell. George is survived by his great grandchildren; Elysa (Alex), Kailee, Aislinn, Taylor, Anelise, Keirra, Khloe, Aniesa, Dominic, and Nathan. George is also survived by his brother Robert (Elaine), many cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, and aunts.

Services will be held in honor George Carl Osorio on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel of Roses, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose, CA 95125, officiated by Father Adel from Our Lady of Fatima.
